Wycliffe's Focus

Today about 350 million people do not have the Bible in their own language. Wycliffe’s vision is to see the Bible accessible to all people in the language they understand best. To make this vision a reality, Wycliffe also focuses on community development, literacy development and church partnerships

Prayer Requests & Praises

Posted April 2010

Praises

  1. We rejoice that Dad Mohney (Jim's Dad) is doing well and has finished his chemo treatments. They ran some tests and no tumors have been found!
  2. Praising God for those who have joined our Partnership team through Prayer and Financial support and God's provision daily in meeting our needs as a family.
  3. Rejoice that the pace of Bible Translation is advancing at the most accelerated pace in history.
  4. We marvel at the timing of Jim being done at Tyco (March 31st) and how all the details surrounding that confirmed that this was the LORDS timing!

Prayer Requests

  1. Pray for Jim as he settles into a new routine being home full-time to do Partnership Development and that he would have proper balance of ministry, family time and house projects.
  2. There are still a few house projects that need to be completed before we put the house up for sale. (We are hoping to have it on the market the beginning of April.)
  3. Jim and Heidi to extend grace to each other during all the packing and organizing around the house.
  4. Selling of our home in Lancaster that it would sell quickly once it's listed.
  5. For the spiritual renewal in our lives during these months leading up to our departure to JAARS
  6. Wisdom and comfort in all the changes and transitions ahead for our family.
  7. Pray that our partnership team would come together so we can be at JAARS so Jim can begin using the skills in the machine shop. We have center housing line up for June 1st and are hoping to have our team together by than.
  8. Pray that the final $500 would come in so we can be on our way!
  9. Once we get to JAARS pray that the Lord would lead us to our next church family so we can become involved in the ministry there and building relationships with others.

About Wycliffe

Wycliffe was founded in 1942 by William Cameron Townsend. A missionary to the Cakchiquel Indians of Guatemala, Townsend caught the vision for translation when Cakchiquel-speaking men expressed their concern that the Bible was not available to them in the language they understood clearly.

As a result, Townsend resolved that every man, woman and child should be able to read God's Word in their own language. Since its inception, Wycliffe has made great progress in Bible translation all around the world. To date, we have played a part in completing more than 700 Scripture translations.
