We are Wycliffe members assigned to serve at JAARS Inc. in Waxhaw, NC. JAARS is a nonprofit organization committed to speeding Bible translation for all people. We provide technical support services and resources to Wycliffe Bible TranslatorsSIL Internationaland related organizations around the world. We have served in a number of roles in the seven years we have been assigned to JAARS.
From 2000 until 2005, Keith was serving in the area of Vernacular Media and Debbi served as a Desktop Publisher. Vernacular Media Services works alongside translation teams to help develop culturally appropriate media tools in the everyday language of people groups around the world.
For more than 15 years, we have researched and designed media strategies to share God’s Word with oral societies, which communicate primarily through what can be seen and heard. Through these means, the translated Scriptures can be shared with all people in a given language group—regardless of their age, physical health or ability to read. In addition, when people hear media in their own language, it often sparks an interest in literacy and printed Scriptures.
From 2005-2007 we were assigned to work from Nairobi, Kenya where Keith helped with Vernacular Media needs and Debbi helped to layout literacy materials for languages in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In 2007, we were reassigned to JAARS. Keith currently serves as the Center Services Director, part of a team which oversees the operations of the JAARS center. Debbi is serving as a Graphic Designer helping develop and produce JAARS informational materials.
